Have you looked at the Bates’ Visual Guide to Physical Examination? You can view these instructional videos from the comfort of your own home or office, provided you have your netid login handy. The Bates’ Visual Guide is divided into eighteen chapters which describe and demonstrate the latest techniques in comprehensive audiovisual detail. Here’s how you can start experiencing the Bates’ Visual Guide:
Go to the LHS-U Bates’ Guide page – http://www.uic.edu/depts/lib/projects/batesvideos/ (You may also go to LHS-U’s homepage and click on “Bates’ Guide to Physical Examination” under Electronic Resources).
You will need RealPlayer to view these videos. If you don’t have RealPlayer installed on your computer, you can download it for free: http://www.real.com/freeplayer/?rppr=rnwk/
Broadband connection is highly recommended
You may also view the videos from LHS-U’s public terminals; however, you will have to supply your own headphones. Alternatively, you can check out the DVDs from the library — just ask at the Circulation Desk!
