The UIC Library would like to thank everyone who participated in the LibQual+ survey last October. The results have been compiled and the Library has already taken steps in response to some of the opinions and comments expressed.

Results Summary
Results showed that users are very happy with the electronic collections but wish we had more complete and current runs of journal titles. Results also showed the library staff is meeting and exceeding patron expectations, but that library facilities leave much to be desired. Priorities differ for faculty and students in terms of facility, collections, hours, and equipment. Students want a more comfortable and inviting environment, more hours, and better equipment whereas faculty emphasize the need for a more easily navigated website and additional electronic resources.

Library Response
The Library has taken a number of steps to begin addressing the issues identified. Hours this spring were extended at both the Daley Library and the Library of the Health Sciences in Chicago; new public computers have been purchased; and the Electronic Learning Lab (ELL) in Daley Library was opened for use as a computer lab when not being used as a classroom. Plans are moving forward to create several improved user spaces at both Daley Library and the Library of the Health Sciences in Chicago. The Library is currently testing new content management software for its website. Once this has been implemented, the website will be totally redesigned, with more attention paid to ease of navigation and retrieval. The Library will, of course, continue to invest in enhancing its electronic resources collection insofar as budget and licensing restrictions allow.
